What is a police scanner or what are police scanners do you ask? A scanner is a nickname given to any type of radio scanner, which is a special reciever that is undenyably capble of recieving most types of wireless radio signals. These signals will include anything from a two way radio to a walky talky used by public safety and all other types of business operations. Police scanners can eavesdrop and listen into these peoples conversations on a nightly basis. It picks up these radio signals, very similar to the am and fm radio. While the am and fm are programmed to pick up only the am and fm band radio signals the police scanners are capable of picking up multiple radio signals and the multiple radio bands that are out there.. It makes it possible to keep track of almost all channels at once The police scanner terms comes from the fact that majority of scanners are users who enjoy listening to a police radio broadcast.
